Tuesday Morning

As many of you are well aware, Karen Kingsbury is one of my all-time favorite authors. I’ve yet to pick up one of her novels that I didn’t become entranced by. Everything she writes is real to me. {To the point that I’ve attempted to announce prayer requests concerning characters in her books. True story. Luke, divorce, needs prayer… Eek, he’s a character in a book I’m reading = embarrassing.} If you are familiar with her writings, you are probably in complete understanding of what kind of trance I’m talking about.

For awhile, I was stuck on this one series {that transpired into three really amazing series} about the Baxter family. However, while waiting on the next book in the series… I branched out and read her 9/11 series: One Tuesday Morning, Beyond Tuesday Morning, and Remember Tuesday Morning. So good. This is what I mean by “real.” She takes real life instances like 9/11 and her characters experience the trauma, shock, and grief I experience 10 years ago. Throughout this series, you experience 9/11 from so many perspectives – it was a great reminder of why our troops are still overseas. It was heartbreaking to relive through this book series, but oh so eyeopening. Sad, yes. Real, yes. Moving, inspirational, powerful… yes!
