Athens bound. Road trippin’ solo, but ready for what the weekend will hold. Anticipation to see Justin, never dissipates. As sappy as it may seem – there are always butterflies.
With summer here and bringing late sunsets, I was able to escape into the beautiful sites along the way. So much American pride overwhelmed me as I saw red and white striped flags waving in front of porch swings and government buildings. It’s official – summer is here.
We started our, four day weekend with quesadillas, burgers, and sweet potato fries at Copper Creek in downtown Athens. It is such a luxury to enjoy a Braves game with Justin over dinner. Nothing fancy, but a date I won’t forget – as we people watched, strolled hand-in-hand in the darkness, and enjoying the time together.
Saturday was spent basking in the sunshine by the water. My favorite past-time. Date night #2 was spent at Terrapin Brewery Co. where we took a tour, received an awesome, souvenir glass, and enjoyed the beat of the Loners Society on the lawn. We even posed with the Terrapin, which made for a good laugh.
The weekend ended with an adventurous trip to Sandy Creek Park, with packed lunches, snacks, and 5 flavors of Powerade – we were ready to roll. Although I didn’t manage to capture any photographs of our escapades, we managed to canoe across Lake Chapman like Tippecanoe and Tyler too. Okay, Tippecanoe and Tyler did not canoe anywhere to my knowledge, but hey – it rhymed – sort of. Together in our romantic, red canoe – we shared laughs, lunch, and stories as we (yes, we) paddled for several hours. It was such an out-of-the-norm activity, but definitely a fun and memorable adventure.
